Bayberry Garden Brunch FRIED CHICKEN

For the seven of you who read this blog, the name “Bayberry Garden” might bring up some vague memory, mostly due to my glowing review of the Bayberry Beer Hall redacted in May 2023. The success of the Bayberry Beer Hall incited its owners to inaugurate the Bayberry Garden, their second restaurant, also in Providence. Sadly, the Bayberry Beer Hall is undergoing a change of ownership, which will likely affect its overall concept and food quality. Nonetheless, Bayberry Garden keeps the bar high by offering the same refinement and originality as its predecessor in a rustic yet modern decor.

Our brunch began with the aptly-named “Fried Chicken”, a sandwich comprised of fried chicken, hot honey, and collard greens in a biscuit. This sweet-and-savory mixture yielded contrasting flavors thanks to the piquancy of the spiced honey and the more subdued but delectable and juicy fried chicken. The homemade biscuit with its soft texture enriched the whole concoction. Subsequently, the Gardener Breakfast, a twist on a traditional Anglo-Saxon breakfast, ingeniously combined duck confit, two eggs, hash browns, and a salad. The duck elevated this already delicious dish.

Bayberry Garden Brunch
In brief, this exquisite brunch confirms that Bayberry Beer Hall and Bayberry Garden share the same DNA. Though somewhat different in concept, both feature a delicate, original, and modern cuisine based on more traditional dishes. However, as much as Bayberry Garden proves itself a worthy successor and might offer a slightly more elaborate menu, it doesn’t quite match the low-key, laidback, and casual vibe that made Bayberry Beer Hall a truly unique and underrated staple in Providence.
