I usually shudder at the thought of eating at an all-you-can-eat buffet, especially if it costs less than $20 per person. Images of stale, insipid food trapped in buffet warmers for too long immediately pop up in my mind. However, Soul of India disabused me. The Tikki Masala, the chicken curry, and the marinated Tandoori chicken imparted a unique array of seasonings and textures (mostly based on yogurt or cream) that enraptured the taste buds. Also, the abundance of warm, freshly baked Naan pleasantly counterbalanced the overall piquancy of the food. As for dessert, the gulab jamun, a kind of spongy milky ball soaked in rose syrup, concluded this feast beautifully.
